Sizing the Power Supply Choose an adequate power supply. Today, that probably means at least 300 watts. Too large a power supply will make more noise than necessary and will consume more electricity. If youre building your PC with an AMD Duron or Athlon CPU, be sure that your power supply is AMD Athlon approved. In particular, the AMD Athlon requires a more stable source of power than a Pentium CPU. If youre uncertain whether a particular case and its power supply is AMD Athlon approved, visit AMD.com.
