Using PayPal for Disk Edition Orders
In April 2000, I began accepting payment through the online payment service PayPal.com. At that time, PayPal was a completely free service that let you send money to others over the Internet. They were offering referral bonuses for new customers, and their sign-up process was simple and straight-forward. I accepted PayPal and even gave a cash discount for using it. Unfortunately, that all changed in the Fall of 2000--the company now charges for "business use", even for a low-volume individual like myself. In addition, they now are trying very hard to get everyone to give them a bank account number when they open an account, which I refuse to do--because frankly, I don't think they need my bank account information.
As a result of the company's policy changes, I consider the PayPal service to be a shadow of its former self; I no longer recommend the service as I once did. As a convenience to those who have PayPal accounts and want to use them for the Disk Edition, I will continue to accept PayPal payments. However, they will be at the regular price, the same as if you use my own credit card submission form. Note that PayPal may still mean that your order will be processed somewhat faster, since it saves me from having to process your order manually. So some people may still wish to use the service for that reason.
See the PayPal site if you have any questions about their payment service. For the specifics on how to order using PayPal, see the ordering page.
