Boot TS - System Stops Booting Hard Disk, Boots Floppy Disk

Explanation: The hard disk drive started to boot but could not and then stopped, with the system then going to try the floppy disk.

Diagnosis: This normally happens only when there is some sort of problem with the hard disk. If the hard disk was never formatted at all, this may happen.

Recommendation:

  • If this is a new hard disk that has never been formatted, it will not boot. Boot the system with a floppy disk instead.
  • Troubleshoot the hard disk.
  • If there is a floppy disk in the drive, the floppy disk boot process will continue here, if you want to follow it. If there is no floppy disk in the drive, the boot process will stop.
