Boot TS - No IDE Autodetect Message

Explanation: The system is failing to attempt to autodetect IDE devices, or is attempting to autodetect but not presenting any information about it.

Diagnosis: First of all, if you have not told the BIOS to autodetect anything, then of course it won't do it. See here for the distinction between manual and boot-time IDE autodetection. If you are asking for autodetection but it is not working, there are two possibilities: either the BIOS is detecting the device properly and just not reporting it (which may be normal for this system) or the BIOS is not detecting the device for some reason.

Note: Many BIOSes will not properly detect ATAPI devices such as CD-ROM drives. These are controlled using software drivers so this is not a problem, as long as the boot doesn't stall trying to find them.

Recommendation: If you are asking the system to autodetect and it is not working, troubleshoot the hard disk autodetection problems here. Otherwise, continue the walkthrough here.
