Calling For Technical Support

The telephone can be one of the very best tools for troubleshooting many PC problems. The reason is simple: you (hopefully) will be able to talk to a human being, and a knowledgeable technical support person is far more useful than any automated system or web site. The problems of phone-based technical support are of course well-known to anyone who has actually tried to use it: frustration, expensive phone bills, green technical support people who know less than you do, etc. Knowing how to do it properly can be the difference between a successful call and one that turns into a nightmare.
