Determining the Feasibility of Repair

As I've mentioned in a couple of other places, while PCs are often "repaired", components often are not. The repair of a PC usually boils down to figuring out what component is not working, and then replacing it with another component that is. Components themselves are very often not repaired, for one simple reason: the cost of the part is dwarfed by the labor cost to repair it.

This section takes a look at some of the issues involved in deciding what to do when your system needs repair. It also takes a look at various components and their expected serviceable life, which is an important component in deciding if repair makes sense or not.
