Tip Of The Day For October 4, 2001:
The other day I had to help a friend restore his system from an infestation by the
infamous SirCam32 worm. He didn't realize he had contracted it, and was using an
out-of-date virus scanner that handled the virus incorrectly, leaving his system in an
unusable state (no applications would run). I had to talk him through a manual registry
fix over the phone, never a fun thing. :^) Two morals: don't open email attachments, and
keep your virus definition files up to date.
