Old Site Updates - July 2000

July 29, 2000:

Status Update: Hello, everyone! I've noticed the site less busy during weekends over the last couple of months than usual, I hope that means you are all off enjoying some well-earned vacation time! :^) I've been trying to get some R&R time myself, but have also been writing up a storm (offline) working on another secret project or two that I am confident you will all like very much. Sometime in later August, look for the culmination of this effort, an addition to the site that I think you will find very useful. In the meantime the work continues, page after tiring page. :^) I will also have a less significant update of the site sometime in the next couple of weeks. Take care!

A Note of Thanks: I want to publicly thank Kevin Chalker of KC Computers for his kind assistance recently with a very troublesome PC. Kevin had sold me many of the components for the system, which was persistently unstable. He patiently answered my questions and swapped the video card for me when I suspected the first one was bad. We eventually tracked the problem down to a bad motherboard, which Kevin helped me diagnose over a period of several weeks, despite the fact that I had already owned the motherboard and hadn't bought it from him. It is this sort of individualized, helpful service that leads me to recommend that people consider buying their systems and components from a reputable, personalized, smaller dealer like Kevin, even if they do charge a dollar or two more than the prices at an anonymous online mega-store.
