Parts of the Motherboard
When you buy a system, it comes (or at least should) with everything you need for your
PC to work properly. However, when you buy a motherboard itself, you have to do a bit more
work to make sure everything comes with it that is supposed to. In addition to the
motherboard itself, a good quality motherboard should come with the items described in
this section.

The parts that typically acompany an AT form factor
motherboard (other than the board itself.) ATX form
factor motherboards come with fewer separate connectors
since most are installed directly on the motherboard. |
Note: The cables discussed
in this section often come in a sealed plastic bag. Some motherboard vendors will only
give you the package with the cables if you remember to ask for it. It's really
disappointing to get half-way through your assembly procedure and realize that you are
missing your cables! Also, make sure you get the right ones for your motherboard; they are
often not interchangeable.
