Monitor Power and Safety

Due to the nature of how CRTs work, there are special power and safety issues involving monitors that don't apply to other parts of the PC. The monitor on a typical PC can consume as much energy as the entire rest of the computer, if not more. The CRT itself produces electromagnetic radiation that can theoretically be harmful to those that spend a great deal of time in front of a PC screen.
