[ The PC Guide | Systems and Components Reference Guide | CD-ROM Drives | CD-ROM Interfaces and Configuration ] Small Computer Systems Interface (SCSI) As with hard disks, the second-most popular interface for connecting CD-ROMs is the Small Computer Systems Interface, better known as SCSI (pronounced "skuzzy"). SCSI is a bus that is used for connecting a wide variety of peripherals to the PC. It is most commonly used in higher-end systems and higher-quality CD-ROM drives. It tends to provide better performance at a higher cost than ATAPI drives. For more information on SCSI, see this rather full discussion in the section on hard disks. See here for a comparison between SCSI and IDE (ATAPI).
