CD-ROM Version
If you do not want to download the Disk Edition, you have the option of getting it on CD-ROM. The main advantages to having the site on CD-ROM instead of downloading it from the Internet including instant access (no need to install anything except a web browser), and portability. The latter is especially useful if you will be using the material on more than one PC.
The CD-ROM version of the Disk Edition is created using CD-Recordable (CD-R) technology on my own personal computer. The reason that I am doing it this way instead of having the disks commercially produced is simple: it cuts the cost of each CD by about $10 and gives me the flexibility to update the contents of the disk as often as I require. Bear in mind that since these disks are being made by an individual and not a large software house, you should not expect amenities such as a fancy full-color label or printed insert page. You do however get my individual care and personal touch with each disk, labeled by hand by my wonderful wife. (you wouldn't be able to read my handwriting! :^) )
Warning: CD-R is not a foolproof
technology and there is the possibility of problems with compatibility on some older
CD-ROM drives. I will certainly work with anyone that has a problem to ensure that it is
resolved. In the two years that the Disk Edition has been sold on CD-ROM, there have only
been a couple of hardware problems.
Warning: CD-R media is delicate,
even moreso than regular CD-ROMs. Please read this
section on the care of CD-ROM media and follow its suggestions. I will not replace
CD-R media damaged due to neglect.
