[ The PC Guide | System Care Guide | System Care: Protecting Your PC | General System Care Factors | Environmental Care Factors ] Tobacco and Silicon Don't Mix Cigarette smoke is bad for your lungs; it is also bad for your PC, and for very similar reasons. I don't wish to start a big debate on this subject or to proselytize, but the simple facts of the matter are that cigarette smoke, especially in high concentration, contaminates and damages computer equipment. The smoke particles are very small and work their way into all sorts of places that they do not belong. Many problems, especially unreliable storage devices, are related to cigarette smoke accumulating on read/write heads and media. Of course, I don't expect that anyone who hasn't quit for more important reasons, will quit just because doing so is good for their PC. But it is useful to know what the effects are, and that there is one more beneficial side-effect to kicking the habit.
