Updating Boot Disks

Since the boot disks that you create as backup for your system contain key information about your PC, you need to update them whenever your system changes. For most people, this is not very often. In fact, you probably only need to recreate your boot disk on an annual basis, when you perform other maintenance tasks that need to be done once per year.

In addition, you will want to update your boot disks immediately if you make major changes to your system, such as installing a new operating system. Not keeping your boot disks up to date can leave you stranded at a time when you really need them.
