[ The PC Guide | The PC Buyer's Guide | Purchasing PCs and Components | Vendor and Order Problems and Solutions ] Common Vendor and Order Problems In this section I discuss some of the most common problems that arise when buying PC systems and components. Most of these are more commonly seen when dealing with online or mail order vendors, but some occur with local retailers as well. Most of these problems are related to pricing, order fulfillment or shipping issues. Others relate to warranties or guarantees not being honored, or inappropriate fees when they are used. One of my primary goals in describing these problems in detail is to try to educate you about what some companies try to pull, and most importantly, what your rights are. I describe the issues individually here, along with suggestions for how to deal with each one specifically. For general information on resolving vendor difficulties, see the section on dealing with difficult vendors and order problems.
