[ The PC Guide | The PC Buyer's Guide | After The Purchase | Final Matters ] Insurance Finally, we come to my very last suggestion relating to buying PCs, and then I promise I'll shut up. :^) When you are all done with buying, setting up and testing your new PC, it's a good idea to check your homeowner's (or renter's) insurance, to be sure that the PC is covered. Most homeowner's policies should include PC equipment without any special conditions, but in some cases, you may require a slight change in coverage. The reason it is worth asking is that a higher-end PC can be worth as much as $3,000 or more, making it more valuable than most of the other objects in a typical household. While insurance coverage is usually not a problem for a regular unit, you may have an issue if you have a high-end machine that is worth a lot of money. Your insurance company may also require that you take out what is called a rider if you have a large amount of computer equipment. I don't know much about insurance in a corporate setting, but would assume that this is less of an issue there since expensive computer equipment is much more common at a company than it is in a home. As always, it never hurts to check, to be sure.
