Hello, Bill?

If at this point you have begun to wonder "What is Microsoft doing about this situation?" The answer, as best as I have been able to determine, is "nothing". Does Microsoft think that reliable backups and copies are not important? I wouldn't think so, but. I do know that actions speak louder than words. Microsoft's silence on this matter is, frankly, deafening.
